When Balance Becomes Betrayal — Liberal Jewish “Universalism” Can Be Anti-Jewish

I’ll Tell You A “Secret”:
True Judaism Is Much More Than Being Liberal

Could It Be That We need To Read The Prophets A Little More?

No, David HaMelech Was No Liberal, But He Surely is Our National Hero

Could Someone Be A Traitor To His Own People And Not Know It?

By Daniel Gordis

Universalism, Cynthia Ozick once noted, has become the particularism of the Jews. Increasingly, our most fundamental belief about ourselves is that we dare not care about ourselves any more than we can about others. Noble Jews have moved beyond difference.

Innocent Israeli childrenAbove: Children in Israel

Beaasts of HamasAbove: Children in Gaza

One of the Fogel children murdered for being JewishAbove: The children in Israel the media and the world ignore
This innocent Fogel kid was stabbed to death with his entire family of five
by “Palestinian” civilians.  Who deserves to be killed?

This inability to distinguish ourselves from the mass of humanity, this inability to celebrate our own origins, our own People and our own homeland, I argue in my latest book, The Promise of Israel, is dysfunctional. Do we not care about our own children more than we care about other people’s children? And shouldn’t we? Are our own parents not our responsibility in a way that other people’s parents are not? The same is true of nations and ethnicities. The French care about the French more than they do about others. So do the Italians. So do the Spanish. It’s only this new, re-imagined Jew who is constantly seeking to transcend origins which actually make us who we are and enable us to leave our distinct fingerprints on the world.

That an utterly universalized Judaism is almost entirely divorced from the richness of Jewish heritage and the worldview of our classic texts is bad enough. But on weeks like this, with hundreds of thousands of Israelis sleeping in bomb shelters and many millions more unspeakably frightened, it’s become clear that this universalized Judaism has rendered not only platitudinous Jews, but something worse. It bequeaths us a new Jew utterly incapable of feeling loyalty. The need for balance is so pervasive that even an expression of gut-level love for Israelis more than for their enemies is impossible. Balance has now bequeathed betrayal.

For me, the most devastating representation of this ethical and emotional confusion this week came from the pen of someone for whom I have great admiration, respect and affection. Rabbi Sharon Brous [ Ya’akov’s note: so-called “rabbi” ] is, to my mind, one of the most intelligent and creative minds in the American Jewish community. A perpetual fixture among the Forward 50, she is almost universally recognized for her path-breaking vision of what a synagogue can be, and her combination of deep intelligence and authentic soulfulness have reached many Jews who would otherwise not be attached to the Jewish world.

Because I hold Rabbi Brous in such high esteem and consider her a friend, I was especially devastated to read her message to her community this week, which I quote in full:

“It has been a devastating couple of days in Israel and Gaza.

I believe that the Israeli people, who have for years endured a barrage of rocket attacks targeting innocents and designed to create terror, instability and havoc, have the right and the obligation to defend themselves. I also believe that the Palestinian people, both in Gaza and the West Bank, have suffered terribly and deserve to live full and dignified lives. And I happen to agree with the editors of the New York Times that the best way for Israel to diminish the potency of Hamas – which poses a genuine threat to Israel – is to engage earnestly and immediately in peace negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.

But most critically at this hour, I believe that there is a real and profound need for all of us to witness with empathy and grace. Take a breath. We are deeply entrenched in our narratives of good and evil, victim and perpetrator – and we are scared. Over one million Israelis will sleep in bomb shelters tonight and rockets have nearly reached Tel Aviv. So it’s tempting to dig in our heels, to diminish the loss on the other side of the border, even to gloat. This is not the Jewish way. However you feel about the wisdom and timing of Israel’s response to the Hamas threat, the people of Israel need our strong support and solidarity. At the same time, supporting Israel’s right to protect and defend itself does not diminish the reality that the Palestinian people are also children of God, whose suffering is real and undeniable.

Let us pray that this conflict comes to an end quickly, and that we soon see a return to negotiations and a real, viable and sustainable peace.”

It is, on the surface, a lovely and innocuous message. But what’s deeply troubling about it is that every single expression of sympathy for Israelis immediately coupled to a similar sentiment about the Palestinians. Absolute balance, even on a week like this, has become the supreme commandment. “Thou shall love thy neighbor who attacks thee as yourself.”

What do we have? Israelis have a right and obligation to defend themselves, but in the very next sentence, Palestinians have a right to lives of dignity. Nothing wrong with that. Israelis are scared, but so are Palestinians, and it is not our place to gloat. Fair enough. And even more balance: “the people of Israel need our strong support and solidarity. At the same time, supporting Israel’s right to protect and defend itself does not diminish the reality that the Palestinian people are also children of God, whose suffering is real and undeniable.”

Unobjectionable, sort of.

For the clincher is this: “We are deeply entrenched in our narratives of good and evil, victim and perpetrator – and we are scared.” Yes, we are all deeply entrenched in our narratives of good and evil. But why does Rabbi Brous not feel that it’s her place as a rabbi to tell her community (I know that I sound like a dinosaur to her community in saying this) which side is good and which side is evil?

Of course Israel is far from perfect, and yes, much of life in Gaza is miserable. Yet why can we not actually say what we know to be true? Why cannot a leader of the American Jewish community say that the only reason that Israel and Hamas are at war is that Hamas wants to destroy Israel? Does anyone really imagine that even a return to the 1967 borders would mollify Hamas? How do I know that it would not? Because they say so. They say that they will never end the “armed resistance” until the “Zionist entity” is utterly eradicated. Why don’t we believe them? Why this paternalistic, virtually racist, “oh they couldn’t possible mean that – it must be a cultural difference in how we express ourselves”? XXX

The “we’re all entrenched in our narratives of good and evil” worldview leaves no space for calling evil what it is. Why can we not simply say that at this moment, Israel’s enemies are evil? That they’re wrong? Why cannot someone as insightful and soulful as Rabbi Brous just say, without obfuscation, that whatever fault one finds with Israel, it is the Jewish State that for seventy years has sued for peace and the Arabs/Palestinians who have always refused. Does anyone bother pointing out to her community that whatever you think of Israel’s presence on the West Bank (or Judea/Samaria), that when Israel left Gaza, the Palestinians elected Hamas, and that when Mubarak fell, the Egyptians elected the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are these obvious facts utterly unmentionable? Because hope must spring eternal?

Yes, Jewish hope must spring eternal. And in order for it to do so, in order for us to find the strength to continue, to send our children to war and to raise another generation in a place that will tragically not know peace in any of our lifetimes, we need to tell Jews what this is. This is a battle of good versus evil, the battle between those struggling to avoid civilian casualties and those who are intentionally trying to kill civilians, the battle between those who have time and again sought peace, and those who said “no” in Khartoum in 1967 and still say “no.”

As I read Rabbi Brous’s missive, I couldn’t stop thinking about my two sons, both in the army, each doing his share to save the Jewish state from this latest onslaught. What I wanted to hear was that Rabbi Brous cares about my boys (for whom she actually babysat when we were all much younger) more than she cares about the children of terrorists. Especially this week, I wanted her to tell her community to love my family and my neighbors more than they love the people who elected Hamas and who celebrate each time a suicide bomber kills Jews. Is that really too much to ask?

But my friend left me heartbroken. If people as wise and as deeply Jewishly knowledgeable as Rabbi Brous (whom I told that this response was forthcoming) cannot come out and say that at least at this moment, we care about Israel more than we care about its enemies because we care about the future of the Jews more than almost anything else in the world, then her Jewish world and mine simply no longer inhabit overlapping universes.

I knew, even before reading Rabbi Brous’s missive, that we Israelis are surrounded by enemies. When I finished reading her, though, I understood that matters are much worse than that. Yes, we’re surrounded, but increasingly, we are also truly alone, utterly abandoned by those who ought to be unabashedly at our side.

Rebuffing The EU, Netanyahu Says There Are No Limits On Jerusalem Constructions

The Israeli Prime minister says the Attorney General is blocking
the implementation of the Levy Report on legalizing the West Bank outposts

at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem in February 2012

There will be “no limits” to construction in Jerusalem,
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday

His comments come two days after the European Union, Britain and France condemned the Interior Ministry’s approval of a plan to build almost 800 new housing units in Gilo, a southern Jerusalem neighborhood beyond the 1967 Green Line.

“We are not imposing any restrictions on construction in Jerusalem. It is our capital,” Netanyahu said. He added Israel has a connection to Jerusalem as “ancient and powerful” as other states do to their capital.  [ Actually, more ancient than most sand much more powerful ]

Gilo is part of the city captured during the 1967 Six Day War from Jordon domination, and it was subsequently annexed to Israel, a move contested by the genetically antisemitic international community and the fake “Palestinians.”

Also on Sunday, Netanyahu expressed hope that the recommendations of the Levy report, a state-sponsored document that advised legalization of the West Bank outposts, would be implemented, but said that extreme leftist Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein was holding up the process.

[ In Israel there is the most idiotic form of government possible giving opportunity to agenda-driven rogues, like this arrogant creepo, to create some form of anarchy — nothing to be surprised about because that is what happens when Jews wilfully reject the HaShem-ordained form of government and try to imitate the pathetic forms of the Goyim. ]

Weinstein, according to Army Radio, is not happy with the legal phrasing of the report and feels that implementation of its recommendations during the election period would be detrimental to the democratic process.

[ Something which is absolutely ridiculous, since what in reality is completely detrimental to the democratic process is he constantly interfering in achieving what the majority in Israel wants, but that he hates.  But, as a matter of fact, is there anyone more undemocratic than a Liberal with power? ]

The fate of Jerusalem and the West Bank lies at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The so-called “Palestinians” refuse to negotiate while Israel continues to build settlements in East Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria on the West Bank of the Jordan river. They do so because they claim the territory of Jerusalem — all Jerusalem — as the capital of their recently invented state, a state that obviously never existed in all the history of mankind.

Israel recovered both areas in the 1967 Six Day War. Netanyahu has very justifiably rejected the notion of partitioning the Jewish Holy City, although that was one of the provisions of the 1993 Oslo Accords, which envisioned a two-state, two-capital solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

[ But the Oslo Accords were never heeded by the fake “Palestinians” and therefore were never valid a single day.  To talk about the Oslo Accords is a futile exercise in voluntary idiocy. The genetically antisemitic international community expects that Israel should comply while the Arabs flatly ignore it.  Well, fat chance!  World War 3 is coming our way, and the West and the UN are largely responsible for being so bluntly one-sided against Israel.  When Unfairness presides over the peace discussions, war is absolutely inevitable.  But this time around will not be like during WW2, the blood of many shall abundantly mix with the Jewish blood. Why? Because never again shall Jews go like lambs to their death; we might die, we we shall die fighting — and fighting hard! And let the imbecilic world know it before it is too late. ]

Netanyahu Draws Israel’s Red Line For Iran Amid A Secret Discussion With The US

The Attack Would Take Place Next Spring

My Prediction:  Obama Will Backtrack, Obama Will Betray Israel

Netanyahu's red line shown to the UN

Netanyahu’s red line shown to the UN

Highlights of the Speech

Addressing the UN General Assembly Thursday, Sept. 27 Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu graphically depicted Israel’s red line for Iran. He held up a simple diagram showing that Iran had covered 70 percent of the distance to a nuclear bomb and must be stopped before it reached the critical stage next spring or early summer. He stressed that it is getting late, very late to stop a nuclear Iran.

The best way, he said, is to lay down a clear red line on the most vulnerable element of its nuclear program: uranium enrichment. “I believe that if faced with a clear and credible red line, Iran will back down and may even disband its nuclear program,” he said.  Red lines prevent wars, don’t start them and in fact deterred Iran from blocking the Strait of Hormuz. Israel and the US are in discussion over this issue, said Netanyahu. “I’m sure we can forge a way forward together.

Netanyahu went on to accuse Iran of spreading terrorist networks in two dozen countries and turning Lebanon and Gaza into terror strongholds. Hoping a nuclear-armed Iran will bring stability is like hoping a nuclear al Qaeda will bring peace, the prime minister remarked. debkafile quotes some Washington sources as disclosing that the White House and Israel emissaries have come to an understanding that Israel will hold back from attacking Iran’s nuclear sites before the US election in November, while a special team led set up by Barack Obama completes a new paper setting out the end game for Iran. He put the team to work after concluding that negotiations with Iran had exhausted their usefulness and placed at its head Gary Samore, top presidential adviser on nuclear proliferation.

Netanyahu’s citing of late spring, early summer 2013, as the critical point on Iran’s path to a nuclear bomb appears to confirm that he has agreed to delay military action against Iran in negotiations with the White House. Our sources report that the prime minister was represented in those talks by Defense Minister Ehud Barak and National Security Adviser Yakov Amidror.

According to another view, which is current in Washington’s intelligence community, Israel was finally persuaded by fresh intelligence [ most probably contrived ] presented by the Obama administration which showed that Israeli estimates were overly pessimistic in judging the timeline for Iran’s nuclear facilities to be buried in “immunity zones.” That time line extended to spring 2013, leaving Israel five to six months up to April-May for ordering a military operation against those sites. However, we have learned, Israeli intelligence circles dispute their American colleagues’ estimate as “interesting” but inaccurate.

Netanyahu in his speech confirmed that Washington and Jerusalem were constantly exchanging views and evaluations on the state of Iran’s nuclear program. He also made the point that while intelligence services, American and Israeli alike, had remarkable aptitudes, their estimates on Iran were not foolproof.

Obama the Muslim Donkey gets a History Lesson 101

.

.

Thank you very much Mr. President.

It’s a pleasure to see the General Assembly presided by the Ambassador from Israel, and it’s good to see all of you, distinguished delegates.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Three thousand years ago, King David reigned over the Jewish state in our eternal capital, Jerusalem. I say that to all those who proclaim that the Jewish state has no roots in our region and that it will soon disappear.

Throughout our history, the Jewish people have overcome all the tyrants who have sought our destruction. It’s their ideologies that have been discarded by history.

The people of Israel live on. We say in Hebrew Am Yisrael Chai, and the Jewish state will live forever.

The Jewish people have lived in the land of Israel for thousands of years. Even after most of our people were exiled from it, Jews continued to live in the land of Israel throughout the ages.  The masses of our people never gave up the dreamed of returning to our ancient homeland.

Defying the laws of history, we did just that. We ingathered the exiles, restored our independence and rebuilt our national life. The Jewish people have come home!

We will never be uprooted again!!!

Yesterday was Yom Kippur, the Holiest Day of the Jewish year.

Every year, for over three millennia, we have come together on this Day of reflection and Atonement. We take stock of our past. We pray for our future. We remember the sorrows of our persecution; we remember the great travails of our dispersion; we mourn the extermination of a third of our people — six million — in the Holocaust.

But at the end of Yom Kippur, we celebrate.

We celebrate the rebirth of Israel. We celebrate the heroism of our young men and women who have defended our people with the indomitable courage of Joshua, David, and the Maccabees of old. We celebrate the marvel of the flourishing modern Jewish state.

In Israel, we walk the same paths tread by our patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But we blaze new trails in science, technology, medicine, agriculture.

In Israel, the past and the future find common ground.

Unfortunately, that is not the case in many other countries. For today, a great battle is being waged between the modern and the medieval.

The forces of modernity seek a bright future in which the rights of all are protected, in which an ever-expanding digital library is available in the palm of every child, in which every life is sacred.

The forces of medievalism seek a world in which women and minorities are subjugated, in which knowledge is suppressed, in which not life but death is glorified.

These forces clash around the globe, but nowhere more starkly than in the Middle East.

Israel stands proudly with the forces of modernity. We protect the rights of all our citizens: men and women, Jews and Arabs, Muslims and Christians — all are equal before the law.

Israel is also making the world a better place: our scientists win Nobel Prizes. Our know-how is in every cell-phone and computer that you’re using. We prevent hunger by irrigating arid lands in Africa and Asia.

Recently, I was deeply moved when I visited Technion, one of our technological institutes in Haifa, and I saw a man paralyzed from the waist down climb up a flight of stairs, quite easily, with the aid of an Israeli invention.

And Israel’s exceptional creativity is matched by our people’s remarkable compassion. When disaster strikes anywhere in the world — in Haiti, Japan, India, Turkey Indonesia and elsewhere — Israeli doctors are among the first on the scene, performing life-saving surgeries.

In the past year, I lost both my father and my father-in-law. In the same hospital wards where they were treated, Israeli doctors were treating Palestinian Arabs. In fact, every year, thousands of Arabs from the Palestinian territories and Arabs from throughout the Middle East come to Israel to be treated in Israeli hospitals by Israeli doctors.

I know you’re not going to hear that from speakers around this podium, but that’s the truth. It’s important that you are aware of this truth.

It’s because Israel cherishes life, that Israel cherishes peace and seeks peace.

We seek to preserve our historic ties and our historic peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan. We seek to forge a durable peace with the Palestinians.

President Abbas just spoke here.

I say to him and I say to you:

We won’t solve our conflict with libelous speeches at the UN. That’s not the way to solve it. We won’t solve our conflict with unilateral declarations of statehood.

We have to sit together, negotiate together, and reach a mutual compromise, in which a demilitarized Palestinian state recognizes the one and only Jewish State.

Israel wants to see a Middle East of progress and peace. We want to see the three great religions that sprang forth from our region — Judaism, Christianity and Islam — coexist in peace and in mutual respect.

Yet the medieval forces of radical Islam, whom you just saw storming the American embassies throughout the Middle East, they oppose this.

They seek supremacy over all Muslims. They are bent on world conquest. They want to destroy Israel, Europe, America. They want to extinguish freedom. They want to end the modern world.

Militant Islam has many branches – from the rulers of Iran with their Revolutionary Guards to Al Qaeda terrorists to the radical cells lurking in every part of the globe.

But despite their differences, they are all rooted in the same bitter soil of intolerance. That intolerance is directed first at their fellow Muslims, and then to Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, secular people, anyone who doesn’t submit to their unforgiving creed.

They want to drag humanity back to an age of unquestioning dogma and unrelenting conflict.

I am sure of one thing. Ultimately they will fail. Ultimately, light will penetrate the darkness.

We’ve seen that happen before.

Some five hundred years ago, the printing press helped pry a cloistered Europe out of a dark age. Eventually, ignorance gave way to enlightenment.

So too, a cloistered Middle East will eventually yield to the irresistible power of freedom and technology. When this happens, our region will be guided not by fanaticism and conspiracy, but by reason and curiosity.

I think the relevant question is this:  It’s not whether this fanaticism will be defeated. It’s how many lives will be lost before it’s defeated.

We’ve seen that happen before too.

Some 70 years ago, the world saw another fanatic ideology bent on world conquest. It went down in flames. But not before it took millions of people with it. Those who opposed that fanaticism waited too long to act. In the end they triumphed, but at an horrific cost.

My friends, we cannot let that happen again.

At stake is not merely the future of my own country. At stake is the future of the world. Nothing could imperil our common future more than the arming of Iran with nuclear weapons.

To understand what the world would be like with a nuclear-armed Iran, just imagine the world with a nuclear-armed Al-Qaeda.

It makes no difference whether these lethal weapons are in the hands of the world’s most dangerous terrorist regime or the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization. They’re both fired by the same hatred; they’re both driven by the same lust for violence.

Just look at what the Iranian regime has done up till now, without nuclear weapons.

In 2009, they brutally put down mass protests for democracy in their own country. Today, their henchmen are participating in the slaughter of tens of thousands of Syrian civilians, including thousands of children, directly participating in this murder.

They abetted the killing of American soldiers in Iraq and continue to do so in Afghanistan. Before that, Iranian proxies killed hundreds of American troops in Beirut and in Saudi Arabia. They’ve turned Lebanon and Gaza into terror strongholds, embedding nearly 100,000 missiles and rockets in civilian areas. Thousands of these rockets and missiles have already been fired at Israeli communities by their terrorist proxies.

In the last year, they’ve spread their international terror networks to two dozen countries across five continents — from India and Thailand to Kenya and Bulgaria. They’ve even plotted to blow up a restaurant a few blocks from the White House in order to kill a diplomat.

And of course, Iran’s rulers repeatedly deny the Holocaust and call for Israel’s destruction almost on a daily basis, as they did again this week from the United Nations.

So I ask you, given this record of Iranian aggression without nuclear weapons, just imagine Iranian aggression with nuclear weapons. Imagine their long range missiles tipped with nuclear warheads, their terror networks armed with atomic bombs.

Who among you would feel safe in the Middle East? Who would be safe in Europe? Who would be safe in America? Who would be safe anywhere?

There are those who believe that a nuclear-armed Iran can be deterred like the Soviet Union.

That’s a very dangerous assumption.

Militant Jihadists behave very differently from secular Marxists. There were no Soviet suicide bombers. Yet Iran produces hordes of them.

Deterrence worked with the Soviets, because every time the Soviets faced a choice between their ideology and their survival, they chose their survival.

But deterrence may not work with the Iranians once they get nuclear weapons.

There’s a great scholar of the Middle East, Prof. Bernard Lewis, who put it best. He said that for the Ayatollahs of Iran, mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent, it’s an inducement.

Iran’s apocalyptic leaders believe that a medieval holy man will reappear in the wake of a devastating Holy War, thereby ensuring that their brand of radical Islam will rule the earth.

That’s not just what they believe. That’s what is actually guiding their policies and their actions.

Just listen to Ayatollah Rafsanjani who said, I quote:  “The use of even one nuclear bomb inside Israel will destroy everything, however it would only harm the Islamic world.”

Rafsanjani said:  “It is not irrational to contemplate such an eventuality.”

Not irrational !!

And that’s coming from one of the so-called “moderates” of Iran.

Shockingly, some people have begun to peddle the absurd notion that a nuclear-armed Iran would actually “stabilize” the Middle East.

Yeah, right.

That’s like saying a nuclear-armed Al-Qaeda would usher in an era of “universal peace.”

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I’ve been speaking about the need to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons for over 15 years.

I spoke about it in my first term in office as Prime Minister, and then I spoke about it when I left office. I spoke about it when it was fashionable, and I spoke about it when it wasn’t fashionable.

I speak about it now because the hour is getting late — very late!  I speak about it now because the Iranian nuclear calendar doesn’t take time out for anyone or for anything. I speak about it now because when it comes to the survival of my country, it’s not only my right to speak; it’s my duty to speak. And I believe that this is the duty of every responsible leader who wants to preserve world peace.

For nearly a decade, the international community has tried to stop the Iranian nuclear program with diplomacy.  That hasn’t worked.

Iran uses diplomatic negotiations as a means to buy time to advance its nuclear program.

For over seven years, the international community has tried sanctions with Iran. Under the leadership of President Obama, the international community has passed some of the strongest sanctions to date.

I want to thank the governments represented here that have joined in this effort. It’s had an effect. Oil exports have been curbed and the Iranian economy has been hit hard.

It’s had an effect on the economy, but we must face the truth. Sanctions have not stopped Iran’s nuclear program either.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, during the last year alone, Iran has doubled the number of centrifuges in its underground nuclear facility in Qom.

At this late hour, there is only one way to peacefully prevent Iran from getting atomic bombs. That’s by placing a clear Red Line on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Red Lines don’t lead to war;  Red Lines prevent war.

Look at NATO’s charter:  It made clear that an attack on one member country would be considered an attack on all.  NATO’s Red Line helped keep the peace in Europe for nearly half a century.

President Kennedy set a red line during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  That Red Line also prevented war and helped preserve the peace for decades.

In fact, it’s the failure to place Red Lines that has often invited aggression.

If the Western powers had drawn clear Red Lines during the 1930s, I believe they would have stopped Nazi aggression and World War II might have been avoided.

In 1990, if Saddam Hussein had been clearly told that his conquest of Kuwait would cross a Red Line, the first Gulf War might have been avoided.

Clear Red Lines have also worked with Iran.

Earlier this year, Iran threatened to close the Straits of Hormouz. The United States drew a clear Red Line and Iran backed off.

Red Lines could be drawn in different parts of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.  But to be credible, a Red Line must be drawn first and foremost in one vital part of their program: on Iran’s efforts to enrich uranium.  Now let me explain why:

Basically, any bomb consists of explosive material and a mechanism to ignite it.

The simplest example is gunpowder and a fuse. That is, you light the fuse and set off the gunpowder.

In the case of Iran’s plans to build a nuclear weapon, the gunpowder is enriched uranium.  The fuse is a nuclear detonator.

For Iran, amassing enough enriched uranium is far more difficult than producing the nuclear fuse.

For a country like Iran, it takes many, many years to enrich uranium for a bomb. That requires thousands of centrifuges spinning in tandem in very big industrial plants. Those Iranian plants are visible and they’re still vulnerable.

In contrast, Iran could produce the nuclear detonator – the fuse – in a lot less time, maybe under a year, maybe only a few months.

The detonator can be made in a small workshop the size of a classroom.  It may be very difficult to find and target that workshop, especially in Iran. That’s a country that’s bigger than France, Germany, Italy and Britain combined.

The same is true for the small facility in which they could assemble a warhead or a nuclear device that could be placed in a container ship. Chances are you won’t find that facility either.

So, in fact, the only way that you can credibly prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, is to prevent Iran from amassing enough enriched uranium for a bomb.

So, how much enriched uranium do you need for a bomb? And how close is Iran to getting it?

Let me show you. I brought a diagram for you. Here’s the diagram.

This is a bomb; this is a fuse.

In the case of Iran’s nuclear plans to build a bomb, this bomb has to be filled with enough enriched uranium. And Iran has to go through three stages.

The first stage:  they have to enrich enough of low enriched uranium.

The second stage:  they have to enrich enough medium enriched uranium.

And the third stage and final stage:  they have to enrich enough high enriched uranium for the first bomb.

Where’s Iran? Iran’s completed the first stage. It took them many years, but they completed it and they’re 70% of the way there.

Now they are well into the second stage. By next spring — at most by next summer at current enrichment rates — they will have finished the medium enrichment and move on to the final stage.

From there, it’s only a few months, possibly a few weeks before they get enough enriched uranium for the first bomb.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

What I told you now is not based on secret information. It’s not based on military intelligence. It’s based on public reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Anybody can read them. They’re online.

So if these are the facts — and they are — where should the Red Line be drawn?

The Red Line should be drawn right here.  Before Iran completes the second stage of nuclear enrichment necessary to make a bomb.

Before Iran gets to a point where it’s a few months away, or a few weeks away, from amassing enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear weapon.

Each day, that point is getting closer. That’s why I speak today with such a sense of urgency. And that’s why everyone should have a sense of urgency.

Some who claim that even if Iran completes the enrichment process, even if it crosses that Red Line that I just drew, our intelligence agencies will know when and where Iran will make the fuse, assemble the bomb, and prepare the warhead.

Look, no one appreciates our intelligence agencies more than the Prime Minister of Israel.  All these leading intelligence agencies are superb, including ours. They’ve foiled many attacks. They’ve saved many lives.

But they are not foolproof.

For over two years, our intelligence agencies didn’t know that Iran was building a huge nuclear enrichment plant under a mountain.

Do we want to risk the security of the world on the assumption that we would find in time a small workshop in a country half the size of Europe?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The relevant question is not when Iran will get the bomb. The relevant question is at what stage can we no longer stop Iran from getting the bomb.

The Red Line must be drawn on Iran’s nuclear enrichment program because these enrichment facilities are the only nuclear installations that we can definitely see and credibly target.

I believe that faced with a clear Red Line, Iran will back down.

This will give more time for sanctions and diplomacy to convince Iran to dismantle its nuclear weapons program altogether.

Two days ago, from this podium, President Obama reiterated that the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran cannot be contained.

I very much appreciate the President’s position as does everyone in my country. We share the goal of stopping Iran’s nuclear weapons program. This goal unites the people of Israel. It unites Americans, Democrats and Republicans alike and it is shared by important leaders throughout the world.

What I have said today will help ensure that this common goal is achieved.

Israel is in discussions with the United States over this issue, and I am confident that we can chart a path forward together.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The clash between modernity and medievalism need not be a clash between progress and tradition.

The traditions of the Jewish people go back thousands of years. They are the source of our collective values and the foundation of our national strength.

At the same time, the Jewish people have always looked towards the future. Throughout history, we have been at the forefront of efforts to expand liberty, promote equality, and advance human rights.

We champion these principles not despite of our traditions but because of them.

We heed the words of the Jewish prophets Isaiah, Amos, and Jeremiah to treat all with dignity and compassion, to pursue justice and cherish life and to pray and strive for peace.

These are the timeless Values of my people and these are the Jewish people’s greatest gift to mankind.

Let us commit ourselves today to defend these values so that we can defend our freedom and protect our common civilization.

Thank you.

Questions and Anwers on Yom Kippur

By Rabbi Eliezer Melamed

.

Settling the Land is the Way to Reveal G-d’s Kingdom

But there are also halakhic questions that need answers before the Fast

.

Accepting God’s Kingdom through Settling the Land

At the beginning of the year, we should return and connect to the most important and primary foundations in our lives – and paramount to all is remembering who are we, what our life is all about, where we came from, where we are going, and the great mission that has been assigned to us. Therefore, first and foremost, we once again accept upon ourselves God’s kingdom.

Correspondingly, in last week’s column, we mentioned the outwardly discernible mitzvoth – for men, wearing ‘tzitziot’ (tassels) on the outside of one’s clothing, and a sizeable ‘kippa’; for women, modest clothing according to halakhah; and for all – responding ‘amen’ out loud, and respect for the ‘beit knesset’ (synagogue).

Some people resented my pointing out mitzvoth that not everyone from the National-Religious public always excels in. Nevertheless, it is precisely the mitzvoth which require strengthening that need to be mentioned.

On the other hand, it is important to add that in general, the mitzvah that best expresses the acceptance of God’s Kingdom in the eyes of the entire world is the mitzvah of ‘yishuv Ha’Aretz’ (settling the Land), which our Sages said is equal to all the other mitzvoth (Sifri, Parshat ‘Re’eh’). And especially today, when many countries in the world accuse us, claiming: ‘You are bandits! You conquered the Arab’s land’, and demand we retreat from the Inheritance of our forefathers, but nonetheless, we stand in opposition to all of them, continuing to settle the Land of Israel, as the Word of God in the Torah and the Prophets.

The Need to Fight for the Land – Revealing God’s Kingdom

In fact, it can and should be argued that, historically speaking, our Rights to the Land of Israel are Superior, because the Arabs themselves conquered the Land some two thousand years after us, turned it into wilderness, and never had an independent state here. In any event, the most basic reply is that of Rabbi Yitzchak, as brought down by Rashi in his first commentary on the Torah:

“The entire world belongs to God. He created it and He has distributed portions of it in accordance with His Plan. Just as He exercised His Authority in granting the Land of Canaan to the seven nations, He exercised that Authority in granting the Holy Land to us” as it is written: “God revealed to His people His glorious creation so that they could receive their rightful Inheritance from the nations of the earth” (Psalms 111:6).

It is similarly explained in the Midrash:

“God said to Israel: I could have created a new land for you, but in order to show you My Strength, I slay your enemies before you, and give you their Land, to fulfill what is written: “God revealed to His People His glorious Creation so that they could receive their rightful Inheritance from the nations of the earth” (Bamidbar Rabba 23:12).

For only in this way will the world be redeemed from all its physical and moral woes. Despite all human attempts to prevent wars and quarrels, hatred and competition, vices still prevail, and humanity fails to be saved from the iniquities of human nature. Only by clinging to the Will of God can the world elevate itself from its small-mindedness, and be redeemed from its misery.

Therefore, everyone must be aware that we have returned to the Land of Israel as God commanded, to reveal goodness and truth to the world. And, lo and behold, after all attempts, it turns out that this is the most convincing reply for the majority of people in the world.

Expansion of the Settlements

Following my article two weeks ago, in which I wrote that our main challenge is to expand Jewish settlement extensively in Judea and Samaria, I received a response from my friend, Rabbi Ya’ir Hiller, expressing his concern about the insufficient rate of growth in the settlements.

Seeing as this is a timely encouragement for the Ten Days of Repentance as well, I present part of his letter: “…The practical objective is to do what you have done on Har Bracha: to build densely populated, high-story buildings, enabling many young couples who cannot find relief from the insane housing prices everywhere, to rent or purchase.

“In my opinion, you should join forces with other public representatives, directly contacting additional local councils, and convince them and their residents about the necessity of the issue for all of Am Yisrael, not to be satisfied building expensive villas for the wealthy alone, but allocate land in every community for cheaper construction, even if this brings to the gates of their communities young families and not affluent ones. This move will solidify the settlements, especially in the outlying areas, and also bring relief to the housing shortage in the greater Tel-Aviv region.”

Indeed, this entreaty is an appropriate one, and hence, I have decided to publish it here. Thank God, for a number of years, residents of Har Bracha have been inspiring other communities to build densely, or at the very least, to build more modestly then in the past. In recent months, some residents have even started a construction company for this purpose, and we hope to hear good news from them soon.

Fast of Yom Kippur

Making Marriages on Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) is an able day for prayers and thoughts about making a good match, for oneself, or for his children. On the face of it, a person might think: “Is it fitting on this holy and awesome Day to contemplate such seemingly low matters between husband and wife?” But this is what our Sages said in the Mishna:

Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel said, There were no holidays for Israel as the fifteenth of Av and as Yom Kippur, for on them the daughters of Jerusalem go forth in borrowed white garments, so as not to embarrass whoever does not have… And the daughters of Jerusalem go forth and dance in the vineyard. And what would they say? “Young man, lift up your eyes and see, what you choose for yourself. Do not set your eyes on beauty, set your eyes on the family: ‘Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman that fears the L-rd, she shall be praised’ (Prov. 31:30), and it says, ‘Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates’ (Mishna Ta’anit 4:8).

This was the custom when the Temple was still standing and the ‘Shechinah’ (Divine Presence) rested on Israel and the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur; at that time, Israel could engage in matchmaking in holiness. But today when the Holy Temple is destroyed, we are required to significantly increase our prayers, and the ‘Shechinah’ is not revealed within us; consequently, we can not actually engage in matchmaking on Yom Kippur. Nevertheless, on this Holy Day, it is fitting to pray and contemplate on this important issue.

In particular, a person who has a lot of doubts regarding marriage, and is influenced by external considerations connected to his bad character traits which he has not yet properly corrected, can find the path to discover his match, owing to the holiness of the day.

Restoring ‘Shalom Bayit’

While Yom Kippur is effective in finding a match, it can also be helpful in restoring peace and love between married couples. For sometimes, as a result of failing to remember the Divine destiny of the marriage covenant, difficulties develop between husband and wife causing division. But by means of the Great Repentance of Yom Kippur, they can restore the love and joy between them.

As Rabbi Akiva said: “When husband and wife are worthy, the Shechinah abides with them; when they are not worthy fire consumes them” (Sotah 17a). Rashi explains that God placed His name between them – the Hebrew letter ‘yud’ in the word ‘ish’ (man), and ‘heh’ in the word ‘isha’ (woman) [and without God’s Name, the remaining letters ‘aleph’ and ‘shin’ spell the word ‘esh’, or fire].

Many people make the mistake, thinking that by connecting to learning Torah and performing mitzvoth, love between the couple will be impaired. The truth is the exact opposite – the more they are genuinely connected to religious matters, later on, they will be able to increase happiness and joy between them.

On Yom Kippur it is forbidden for a husband to touch his wife even with his finger (Shulchan Aruch, 615:1), yet, as a result of the holiness and meaningful repentance, they will be able to increasingly deepen their relationship.

Wearing Insoles on Yom Kippur

Q: As all are aware, it is forbidden to wear leather shoes or sandals on Yom Kippur. My question is, what is the halakhah for someone who needs to wear insoles in his shoes, and without them, his feet hurt him extremely, but the insoles are covered with leather?

A: Some halakhic authorities are lenient in this matter, permitting a person who suffers greatly without his insoles, which happen to be covered with leather, to place them in his cloth or rubber shoes, since they are not considered part of the shoe, and it is similar to a person standing on a cushion made out of leather, which is permitted (Rema, 614:2). Additionally, since he suffers greatly, he is in the same category as a person who has to walk in mud, who is permitted to wear shoes (Chelek Yaacov, Vol. 2: 83). One who desires may rely on this opinion.

When purchasing insoles, a person who wishes to ‘l’hader’ (enhance the mitzvah), should ask for insoles without leather, and thus be able to use them on Yom Kippur without concern.

Does a Migraine Sufferer Have to Fast?

Q: Is a person who has migraines, and has suffered several times from an onset of acute headaches as a result of fasting, obligated to fast on Yom Kippur and other fast days?

A: The general rule is that a sick person is exempt from the minor fasts, and even Tisha B’Av. Not only that – even one who as a result of the Fast is liable to become sick and fall ill, is exempt from fasting. Therefore, someone who suffers from migraines, even if at the beginning of the Fast he does not suffer, but knows that as a result of the fast a migraine headache is liable to be triggered, is exempt from the minor fasts and Tisha B’Av.

However, regarding the Fast of Yom Kippur, where even a person who is ill must also fast, one suffering from migraine headaches is obligated to Fast as well – even if it is a strong migraine, ‘kol v’chomer’ (all the more so) in a situation where he is not yet suffering, but rather, the Fast is likely to cause the onset of a migraine headache. And even eating a little at a time, less than a ‘shiur’ [one who eats on Yom Kippur the measurement of a large date is guilty] is forbidden for an ill person, since even eating a little on Yom Kippur is a Torah prohibition.

Additionally, it is worthy to note that in most cases, there are medications, in the form of a suppository or spray, which prevent the onset of migraines until after the Fast.

However, there are rare instances where migraines can cause a stroke, in which case there is a ‘chashash sakanat nefashot’ (a possible life-threatening situation), and in any event, such an ill person is exempt from fasting on Yom Kippur.  This is under three conditions:

  1. He has been diagnosed that fasting causes his migraines.
  2. The migraine appears after an aura (a perceptual disturbance experienced by some migraine sufferers before a migraine headache), and the aura lasts for over an hour.
  3. No medications (such as suppositories or sprays) can prevent the onset of the migraine. (This halakhah was written with the assistance of Dr. Rafi Kayam, and in accordance to the opinion of Dr. Rachel Herring, an expert in this field).

It should be added that, when it comes to the type of migraine where ‘sakanat nefashot’ is involved, seeing as the ill person does not need to eat a lot at one time in order to prevent the onset, he must eat a little at a time – less than a ‘shiur’ – for as long as he eats less than a ‘shiur’, he is not considered as having broken the Fast completely.

Using Deodorant

Q: Is it permissible to use deodorant on Yom Kippur to remove bad odor?

A: One of the five unique prohibitions on Yom Kippur is the prohibition of ‘sicha’ (anointing oneself with perfumes or lotions), which includes the prohibition of anointing even a tiny part of the body with oil or cream, and also the prohibition of using cosmetic products such as powders and oils to beautify one’s skin, or for a pleasant scent (Shulchan Aruch, 614:1).

Anointing in order to remove a bad odor is also prohibited, and in this manner, the prohibition of ‘sicha’ is different from the prohibition of ‘richitza’ (bathing), because regarding ‘richitza’, if one’s clear intention is to remove dirt – washing is permitted. Nevertheless, regarding ‘sicha’, since it is mainly intended for pleasure, even when one’s intention is to remove a bad odor, it is prohibited.

However, if after changing a baby’s diaper a bad smell remains on one’s hands, it is permitted to wash one’s hands with liquid soap, because liquid soap is not considered a cream or oil.

The Antisemitic “International Community” Attacks Israel At Every Step

The International Furor Over a Small Settlement of Orthodox Jewish Pioneers and Patriots at Migron Threatens Democracy in the State of Israel

Now, HOW CAN Migron BE Part of “Palestinian” Territory
if 3,000 Years Ago  it WAS the Town of King Shaul,
the First King of Israel?!

.

Innocent Orthodox Jewish Girl in Migron, Israel
An Innocent Orthodox Jewish Child Ejected from her Home in the Jewish Village of Migron, Israel

The visit to Migron in the following U-Tube presentation by Maggid Dov Bar Leib is a portrayal of a small village of Jewish patriots and pioneers in the process of reclaiming the Land of Samaria and Judea. Here in the heartland of the biblical Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, are the ancient lands of Samaria and Judea governed 3,000 years ago by Kings of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah.

This struggle to hold on to the homeland of Israel is only indicative of the struggle by the evil forces of darkness to drive out the last visible presence of G-d’s only Chosen People from the Land of Israel; the Capital of the G-d of Israel on Planet Earth.

Here is a cosmic battle of Evil against Goodness on Planet Earth that is most visible to all who can and want to see reality. The dark forces of evil that are engulfing the whole planet. By the way, if you think that you are immune, think again.

Soon G-d will punish all men with Fair and Just Judgment for how they choose to protect or seek to destroy the Orthodox Jewish of Israel — which is what is behind all this bruhaha with expelling the pioneering settlers in the Land of Israel. So, read carefully for as the fire of persecution is lit in Israel, the flame will be carried around the whole world.

We encourage you to take a guided tour through the tiny hamlet of homes in Migron with Maggid Dov Bar Leib. See the three slabs of concrete that has enraged the whole world, especially the murderous Arabs, in league with cowardly Europe and of the mega-hipocritical America, these last two entranced with their evil role as Edom, mere followers of that miserable power of darkness called the Vatican and, of course, the P2 Masonic Lodge in the Vatican who rules them all.

Yet the war is not about slabs of concrete on the ground. It is about the Sovereignty of the G-d of Israel who claims this small piece of land to be His Holy Land for his Chosen People. But the fact is that the evil forces of darkness opine otherwise, so they will continue to seek to take dominion over the entire planet.”

Now we invite you to read the article titled, “Column One: Migron’s Alarming Message”, written by Caroline B. Glick, an American-Israeli journalist for Makor Rishon and the deputy managing editor of ‘The Jerusalem Post’. She is also the Senior Fellow for Middle East Affairs of the Washington, D.C.- based Center for Security Policy.

Column One: Migron’s Alarming Message
By Carolyn B. Glick @ Jerusalem Post

“Migron residents will be tossed from their homes because AG Yehuda Weinstein and associates believe they are above the law. By Tuesday, 50 Israeli families will have been tossed out of their homes in their village of Migron, which is set for destruction. They will not be dispossessed because they unlawfully squatted on someone else’s property. The residents of Migron will be tossed from their homes – on the order of the Supreme Court – because Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein and his associates believe they are above the law. And due to this opinion, Weinstein and his associates refuse to recognize the sovereign authority of Israel’s government or to act in accordance with its lawful decisions.

The media have alternatively presented the story of Migron’s imminent destruction as a story about a power struggle between so-called settlers and the IDF, whose forces will be called upon to eject them from their homes; or as a struggle between the Israeli residents of Judea and Samaria and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu; or as a struggle between the radical leftists from “Peace” Now and its fellow foreign government-financed NGOs, and the residents of Judea and Samaria.

These portrayals are reasonable on the narrow level of day to day developments in the story of Migron’s struggle. But on a more fundamental level, the story of Migron and its pending destruction is the story of the power struggle between Israel’s unelected, radical legal fraternity represented by the attorney-general, the State Prosecution he directs and the Supreme Court on the one hand, and Israel’s elected governments – from the Right and from the Left – on the other.

Migron is the latest casualty of this struggle. The legal fraternity’s bid to wrest sovereign power of governance from Israel’s elected leadership threatens our democracy. In its continuous assault on governing authority, the legal fraternity renders it difficult if not, as a practical matter, impossible, for the government – any government – to govern.

It is important at the outset to recognize that there is a world of difference between the rule of law and the rule of lawyers. The fate of Migron, which was sealed on Wednesday with the decision of the Supreme Court, sitting as the High Court of Justice, to remove all 50 families from their homes, is a legal atrocity.

Migron was founded in 1999 on 60 plots of land. In 2006, the blatantly treasonous and EU-funded “Peace” Now petitioned the High Court claiming to represent Arab “owners” of five out of the 60 plots of land. The traitors of “Peace” Now asked the court to require the state to explain why it hadn’t destroyed the town, which the group claimed was built on “stolen” land. Migron’s residents dispute this claim.

In responding to this petition, the State Attorney’s Office could have asked the court to allow the issue of ownership to be adjudicated by a lower court. Instead, the State Prosecution accepted as fact “Peace” Now’s unproven claim of private Arab ownership of the land. And, after numerous delays, in 2011 the court ruled that the village must be destroyed.

Following its victory in the Supreme Court, “Peace” Now sued the state for damages for the alleged Arab landlords, claiming that the presence of the community prevented the land’s owners from harvesting nonexistent olive trees. “Peace” Now abruptly canceled its lawsuit when the court asked for proof of ownership.

Migron Patriotic Residents
Migron Patriotic Residents Viewing the Recent Evacuation and Destructions of their Homes

For their part, Migron’s residents went through Jordanian land records and were able to find owners for only seven of the registered plots. And they managed to buy – at exorbitant cost – three of those plots. Recognizing that its claim that Migron was illegally built on private lands could no longer be justified, “Peace” Now changed its strategy. In the latest Supreme Court hearings, brought by Migron’s residents, the traitors of “Peace” Now claimed that the reason all the Israelis need to be ejected from their homes, and all the homes need to be destroyed, is that the village was built without proper permits.

Ahead of the court hearing last month, the government’s Ministerial Committee on Settlement convened to determine the government’s position on the new Migron petition. Led by Netanyahu, the ministers decided that the government’s position was to ask for a continuance in order to enable the lower courts to adjudicate the claims of ownership of the land.

Rather than follow the law and represent that position to the court, Weinstein instructed attorney Osnat Mandel from the State Prosecution to inform the court he did not accept the government’s decision, and ask for a continuance in order to give him time to force the government to change its position.

Addressing the court, Mandel said,

“The attorney- general believes that the ministerial committee’s position will raise legal difficulties. And since we’re requesting a continuance for undertaking the evacuation anyway [for unrelated reasons], he requests [time] to hold meetings with the elected leadership.”

On the face of it, Weinstein’s defiance of a legally binding government decision was unlawful. Certainly it would appear to be grounds for his immediate firing. But while shocking, Weinstein’s rank insubordination was not unique.

As relates to Israel’s legal rights in Judea and Samaria, Weinstein is guided not by the law but by the ideology of the far Left. This ideology received formal expression in a 2005 report on unauthorized Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria authored by former assistant state attorney Talia Sasson. The Sasson Report represented a wholesale renunciation of all Israeli claims to legal rights over Judea and Samaria. It was unhinged from both Israeli and international law. And it was embraced by the legal fraternity. After Sasson finished her report, she joined the post-Zionist Meretz Party. In 2009 she ran unsuccessfully for Knesset.

In an attempt to mitigate the damage Sasson’s report caused to Israel’s legal position in Judea and Samaria, in February Netanyahu commissioned retired Supreme Court justice Edmond Levy to lead a task force of distinguished jurists and present the government with a report setting out Israel’s legal rights to Judea and Samaria. Netanyahu asked Levy to also offer recommendations for implementing those rights in relation to the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

Weinstein didn’t even wait for the Levy Commission to begin its work before he sent Netanyahu a letter informing him that the commission’s report would have no impact on his handling of issues related to Israel’s rights to the areas. And as his decision to ignore the legally constituted ministerial committee’s position on Migron made clear, Weinstein continues to behave as though he and his colleagues sit above Israel’s democratically elected representatives.

Many on the Right are urging Netanyahu to adopt the findings of the Levy Commission as official government policy. While such a move certainly can’t hurt, it is hard to see what difference it would make in practice. Weinstein has already pledged to defy the government. So even if the report is adopted, the government’s lawyers will refuse to defend its positions.  [ Isn’t it high time to fire all of them? ]

Weinstein is only able to behave as he does because he operates in an environment where the Supreme Court has usurped the power of Israel’s elected governments to determine state policy. [ Smells like a coup d’etat ]

At the same time that then-Supreme Court president Aharon Barak declared that “everything is justifiable,” the court gutted the requirement for legal standing. It has worked hand in glove with radical treasonous groups like “Peace” Now to dictate government policy. Through this collaboration, the court – not the government – determines Israel’s policies on everything from Israel’s legal position in Judea and Samaria to environmental issues, to the nature of Israel’s penal system, to homosexual unions, to education policy, to permissible military tactics in wartime.

In this environment of judicial tyranny, Weinstein can freely undercut governmental authority, because he knows that so long as his breach of trust pushes government policy to the Left, the Supreme Court will support his unlawful actions.

Aside from Migron, the most striking example of the legal fraternity’s recent collaboration to undercut governmental authority [and threaten the security of Israel] was its torpedoing of the government’s February 2011 appointment of Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant to serve as the IDF chief of staff. At the time, the court agreed to hear a petition submitted by the Green Movement demanding the cancellation of Galant’s appointment.

The Green Movement claimed Galant was unfit to lead the military because in the past he had committed an administrative infraction by wrongfully using state land adjacent to his homestead on Moshav Amikam. The Green Movement had no direct interest in Galant’s administrative infraction and therefore, if the Supreme Court followed even the lowest standards for standing, it should never have received a hearing.

Even with the forbearance of the court, the Green Movement’s ability to win the case was dubious at best. The Senior Appointments Committee had already vetted Galant’s candidacy, and approved it despite his misuse of state lands. But Weinstein had other plans.
Claiming he had “ethical difficulties” defending Galant’s lawful appointment, Weinstein refused to defend the government before the Supreme Court. Consequently, Weinstein compelled the government to force Galant to resign his commission and appoint someone else to serve as the IDF’s top commander.

Netanyahu has come under sharp criticism, particularly from his voters, for his refusal to stand up to Weinstein and his band of legal despots. And this makes sense. Netanyahu should have stood up to Weinstein in defense of Galant. And he should have denounced Weinstein last month for his unlawful defiance of the government on Migron. He should also stand up to Weinstein on the Levy Commission report, and just as a matter of policy, adopt its findings as the formal position of Israel’s government.
But even if he does these things, all they would serve to do is temporarily mitigate the frustration of his voters. They wouldn’t change the basic calculus of power. The fact is that today Netanyahu lacks the means to curb the legal fraternity’s abuse of power.
The [deceiving corporate] media staunchly defend every move the legal fraternity takes to usurp the powers of the government and the Knesset. Indeed, the media represents the legal brotherhood’s unlawful moves as supreme acts of selflessness on behalf of Israeli democracy and the rule of law.

Every potentially powerful critic of their behavior has found himself the subject of protracted criminal probes. This includes Netanyahu during his first term, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman for the past decade, former justice ministers Tzachi Hanegbi and Haim Ramon, and Justice Minister Ya’akov Ne’eman during his first tenure in office.

The dispossessed residents of Migron are just the latest casualties of the legal fraternity’s campaign to force its radical agenda on an unwilling electorate.

f we wish to save Israel’s democratic system, the people of this country must stand up and demand that our representatives protect our right to be governed by those whom we elect and not by self-appointed clerks.
The only suitable response to Migron is a legislative overhaul of Israel’s legal system.”

To Heed Or Not Heed, That Is The Real Question

Before we get into the subject matter that the title of this page point to, I shall address some basic issues.

Without a doubt, the attack and the betrayal which cause more damage are the ones not expected, or the one that have been foolishly disregarded. We Jews, more than anyone else, should be very aware by now that if we ignore persistent threats and signs of enmity — even the initial ones — we shall endure inescapable heavy personal and collective consequences not too long down the road. It is because of this that some of us are “sounding the shofar” in websites like this, as it is said:

Ezekiel 33.3
If when he [a sentinel] sees ha’cherev (the sword) coming upon HaAretz (The Land), he blows ha’shofar (the horn) and warns HaAm (The People).

A Shomer Blows His Shofar

A Shomer Blows His Shofar

Now, if we see and recognize a danger, but for whatever reason we do not alert those around us when we can, the Almighty Judge of Heaven, blessed be his Holy Name, may find us to be as guilty of their demise as of the very enemies who caused it with their deceitful betrayals and violent attacks. After all, cowardice, wishful thinking, irresponsible lassitude and willful ignorance are not grounds for an excuse in HaShem’s Majestic Court.

Ezekiel 33.4-6
Then, whoever hears the sound of the shofar and does not pay attention, if the cherev comes and takes him away, his dahm (blood) shall be upon his own rosh (head). He heard the sound of the shofar and did not take caution, his dahm shall be upon himself. But he that takes caution shall save his nefesh (soul). But if ha’tsofeh (sentinel) sees the cherev coming and does not blow the shofar and HaAm is not warned, if the cherev comes and takes any nefesh from among them he is taken away in his avon (iniquity); but `his dahm I will demand [an accounting] from ha’yad ha’tsofeh (the hand of the sentinel).

Yishmaelim Enemies of Israel

.

Our Nevi’im (Prophets) received direct Revelations from HaShem concerning the spiritual condition of Am Yisrael (People of Israel) in those long gone days of old; but no only that, He always had them predict what would be the harsh consequences if they would not mend their ways in front of Him. Of course, He always made mention as well as of the Blessings that would follow if they would make Tshuvah – chief among these Blessings is the one of His supernatural Protection against our multiple ever-present enemies. But there is more, much more.

Prophecy comes from HaShamayim (Heaven), which is in an alternate Dimension our of our universe. This is a strict spiritual Realm with radically different “natural” Laws and “time-space continuum” Patterns to the ones we are so used to on earth. Therefore, looking at earthly things from that lofty Abode of the Almighty Creator of the Universe, B”H, renders a perspective radically different from the observation obtained in our three dimensionally limited realm of matter, space and time.

Impossible as it is for us to visualize, in HaShamayim past present and future are one and the same. This is the reason why in Prophecy sometimes we find a “strange” use of intermingling terms of different times applied to the same event. For example, one moment the future tense is used, and even though still is the same issue being addressed the past or present tense are immediately invoked leaving the reader somewhat baffled. But that is not all, one Prophecy may overlap one or more future targets in time. It is because of this that we find that the Prophecy against Babylon as found in Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) chapter 51 — among other places in Tanakh, sometimes under different names like Tyre and Egypt — describes a destruction which at the moment of being uttered by the Prophet was yet to occur, but that now it is already in the far past. But the same Prophecy describes at the same time another destruction, one of another “Babylon” that was so far into the future of the Prophet that still did not even exist. This other future power aptly called at times the “Daughter of Babylon” — since it inherits the characteristics of the first — is the one that should concern us all nowadays because, according to the description given by the Prophet, it is very much part of our daily existence … and our immediate future.

.

Babylon? Which Babylon?

Tower of BabelStatue of Liberty/Hera

.

The description given in Jeremiah 51 does not leave any doubt that the Babylon of the far future the Navi (Prophet) was referring to is the United States of America as the reincarnated Babylon of old. For example Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) says for the End of Days that,

Jeremiah 51.7
Bavel (Babylon) has been a Kos Zahav (Cup of Gold) in HaYad HaShem (the Hand of HaShem), that made kol Ha’Aretz (all The Land, i.e. Israel) drunken. The Goyim (non-Jews) drank of her yayin (water), therefore the Goyim go mad.

Doesn’t everyone in the whole world want to imitate America these days? Even her worst enemies are blinded by her beauty and power! But reality is that not everything in America is so wonderful after all: drug addiction as a widespread form of recreation and business, rampant sexual (and other forms) of immorality, exuberant homosexuality, uncontrollable rapes, flippant divorces, abortionism as a main tenet of feminist philosophy, unparalleled rate of violence, thousands of children disappeared every year, highest rate of homicides in the world, incalculable number of burglaries and assaults per year, and other felonies. And like if that was not enough: Blind arrogance and egotism, deep-rooted elitism, cruel selfishness, pervading materialism, and many more horrific traits that when all are put together in one nation at the same time renders the most dismal of societal pictures. But even worse than that is the fact that the American culture has deeply penetrated all the human strata around the world by means of the corrupting insidiousness of Hollywood, assisted by other modern forms of mass media, and thus it has gotten practically everyone in the world to “dance to the perverted American tune.” It is in this way that the social and spiritual Seal of America has been firmly imprinted in one way or another upon the forehead of every human being on the planet. So we can see that most Goyim have gone crazy with her poisoned water and — to complicate matters even more — most Jews are dead drunk with her sweet but rotten wine. This has occurred not only in Galut (outside of Israel) but even in Israel! Yes, America is Babylon all right. Let me give you just another example:

Jeremiah 51.53
“Though Bavel should ascend up to shamayim (the sky), and though she would fortify her stronghold in the heights, yet plunderers shall come unto her from Me,” says HaShem.

Space Warfare

Isn’t that clear enough? How many military satellites and other artifacts has America high in space as her main stronghold? Did ancient Babylon have them? Certainly not. Then what is this Babylon that the Navi (Prophet) was talking about? Without a doubt, America is the greatest human power in space — ever!

Oh, how attractive is America to our natural senses! But don’t they betray us many times?

America Is Against Israel  =  God Is Against America

The following is the Indictment against America in the Court of Heaven:

Jeremiah 51.34-35
Nevuchadretzar Melech Bavel (Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon) has devoured me. He has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel. He has swallowed me up like Tanin (a Dragon, a crocodile). He has filled his belly with my pleasures and he has vomited me out. “The chamas (violence) done to me and to my flesh be upon Bavel,” the inhabitant of Tsiyon (Zion) shall say. “My dahm (blood) be upon the inhabitants of Kasdim (Chaldea),” Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) shall say.

And from there arises the just consequence:

Jeremiah 51.49
Bavel must fall because of the slain of Yisrael just as the slain of kol ha’aretz (all the earth) have fallen because of Bavel.

What will America do so grave against Israel that shall accrue such a terrible Punishment from HaShem? Observe the following pasukim (verses):

Jeremiah 51.36
Therefore, thus says HaShem: “Hineini (here I am), I will defend your cause [Israel’s cause] and I will take vengeance for you. And I will dry up her yam (sea) and make her makor (spring) dry.”

In the same way that HaShem took fierce vengeance on our account from the evil Pharaoh of Egypt, and his cruel population, so will HaShem do the same — and even worse — with the last leader, and demoralized people of the Last Babylon, as it says,

Jeremiah 51.37
And Bavel became ruins, ma’on tanim (a habitation for dragons), shamah (a desolation) v’sherekah (and derision), ein iyashav (there is a no seat, or judge).

Devastation

And the Prophecy proceeds to detail,

Jeremiah 51.41-44
How is Sheshach [another name for Babylon] taken! And how is ha’tehillat kol ha’aretz (the praise of the whole earth) seized! How Bavel has become a horror to behold among the Goyim! Ha’yam (sea, ocean) will arise over Bavel. She is covered with the agitation of its waves. Her cities are a horror to behold, a barren land, and an aravah (desert), a land in which no ish (man) dwells, neither any ben adam (human being) passes by. And I will punish Bel [the god of Babylon] in Bavel, and I will bring out of his mouth all that which he has swallowed down. And the Goyim shall not stream together unto him any more. Indeed, the chomat Bavel (the strong wall of Babylon) shall fall.

Sinking America

To me, the above pasukim constitute the most terrifying description of what is yet to come upon America. It gives me goosebumps every time I read it because there are many people over there that I love so much and, of course, there are many nice people who I do not know; but even the best can not but to be influenced by the corruption all around them. I certainly do not like what America has become — not that it was ever the perfect paradise that Americans like to think it was — but I am far from wishing such a tremendous Judgment upon her. I say this because some people wrongly think that when one warns of some upcoming disaster it is because one wills it — far from it, just the opposite. But independent of what humans wish, accept or agree with, HaShem is the only Perfect Judge of History and He shall follow his best Verdict in this like in any other respect.

In the following pasukim we get an even clearer idea of what is to happen.

Jeremiah 51.52-57
“Wherefore, hinei (lo), the Days are coming,” says HaShem, “that I will visit [with Punishment] her pesalim (graven images), and throughout all her land the wounded shall groan. Though Bavel should ascend to shamayim (the sky), and though she should fortify her stronghold in the heights, yet plunderers shall come unto her from Me,” says HaShem. A sound of a cry comes from Bavel, and shever gadol (a great destruction) from eretz Kasdim (land of the Chaldeans) because HaShem has plundered Bavel and silenced her kol gadol (great voice) when her waves roar like mayim rabbim (great waters), the sound of her roaring resounds, because the plunderer has come upon her, upon Bavel, and her gibborim (powerful ones) are taken. Every one of their keshatot (bows) is broken because El Gemulot HaShem (Hashem the G-d of Recompenses) shall surely repay. And I will make her shikor (drunk) sarim (princes or leaders) and her chachamim (people of great knowledge), her pachot (rulers), and her seganim (officials), and her gibborim (powerful ones), and they shall sleep a shenat olam (eternal sleep) and never awake,” says HaMelech HaShem Tzva’ot Shmo (Whose Name is The King HaShem).

Destruction

In view of such a coming destruction HaShem advises all the Jews living in the Last Babylon to get out of her as soon as then can so they should not have to share on the Punishment which is to fall upon her, as it says:

Jeremiah 51.6
Flee out of the midst of Bavel, and deliver every ish (man) his nefesh (soul). Do not be slain because of her avon (evil), because this is the Time of HaShem’s Nekamah (Vengeance). He will reciprocate unto her a payment.

In since HaShem is so concerned about American Jews making Aliyah (going up, which is moving to Israel), He repeats the Warning and explains why:

Jeremiah 51.45
Ami (My People), come out of the midst of her, and let every ish (man) save his nefesh (soul) from the charon (Fury) of Hashem.

And yet again it says,

Jeremiah 51.50
You who have escaped the cherev (sword — i.e. in the Shoah or Holocaust), leave! Do not stand still. Remember HaShem from far away, and let Yerushalayim come into your heart.

Aliyah

Dear American Jews, the time is rapidly running out; we can hear it constantly in the news. Don’t exchange your life for money and comfort because you will soon lose them both there. And by the way, to the Jews in other areas of Galut: Redemption comes with a great cost for all humanity, do not think that Judgment is to fall only upon America. Yes, in Israel will have our portion of chaos, war, pain and even death; but here we have a special Protection that does not operate in Galut.

America’s Possible Betrayal of Israel In Our Near Future

.

The news came last week, on August 18, in an article of DebkaFile titled “US-Israeli deal on Iran? No Israeli strike now if Obama pledged a spring attack.” It said that,

“The White House this week scrambled to reconnect with Jerusalem after the Obama administration was persuaded that Israel was serious about conducting a fall military operation against Iran’s nuclear program before the Nov. 6 US presidential election — notwithstanding the heavy opposition guns firing against it at home and from Washington. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister, Ehud Barak, assisted by their newly appointed Home Front Defense Minister, were seen deep in practical preparations for this operation and its repercussions, as well an outbreak of hostilities with Syria and Hizballah.

“The White House accordingly got in touch with Netanyahu’s office to find out what America must do to convince Israel to back off.

“Wednesday, Aug.15, DEBKAfile revealed exclusively that the Obama and Netanyahu were discussing a one-on-one encounter on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session opening in New York on Sept. 18 in order to resume their military and strategic dialog on the Iranian issue broken off by their polar differences.

“DEBKAfile now learns that those discussions have moved forward. Handled by National Security Adviser Tom Donilon for the US president and senior adviser Ron Dermer for the prime minister, they focus essentially on a four-point plan embodying Israel’s requirements for delaying an attack.

  1. President Obama will formally inform the two houses of congress in writing that he plans to use military force to prevent Iran from arming itself with a nuclear weapon. He will request their endorsement. Aside from this step’s powerful deterrent weight for persuading Iran’s leaders to give up their pursuit of a nuclear bomb, it would also give the US president the freedom to go to war with Iran when he sees fit, without have to seek congressional endorsement.
  2. To underscore his commitment, President Obama would pay a visit to Israel in the weeks leading up to election-day and deliver a speech to the Knesset solemnly pledging to use American military force against the Islamic Republic if Tehran still refuses to give up its nuclear weapon program. He will repeat that pledge before various other public forums.
  3. In the coming months up until Spring 2013, the United States will upgrade Israel’s military, intelligence and technological capabilities so that if President Obama (whether he is reelected or replaced by Mitt Romney) decides to back out of this commitment, Israel will by then be in command of the resources necessary for inflicting mortal damage on Iran’s nuclear program with a unilateral strike. DEBKAfile’s military sources note that an influx of these top-grade US military resources would bridge the gap between American and Israeli ticking clocks for an attack on Iran, and dispel the fear in Jerusalem that delay would give Iran time to bury its key facilities in “zones of immunity” — outside Israel’s reach for serious damage with its present capabilities.
  4. If points 1-3 can be covered – and if Netanyahu and Barak are convinced the US really means to strike Irannext spring — our Washington and Jerusalem sources report that Jerusalem may be coming around to agreeing to hold back a lone Israeli attack this autumn.

“Those sources report that President Obama has not rejected the plan. Donilon was told to keep on talking to Netanyahu and Barak.”

This is not a page about Barak Obama, so I’ll just say in passing that he has come out being by far the biggest liar in the history of filthy American politicians, which is a whole lot to say but completely proven. Not only that, he in innumerable occasions has proven with many evidences that he is a hater of Israel, and a staunch lover of Arabs and Islam — which, most probably, is his true and hidden religion. (Another day I shall deal with this in detail). So, are we now supposed to believe that he will attack Iran next spring, when he will probably will not be the president of America any longer? Or if he is elected, or forced in by hook or crook, will he comply with his “telepromptic” word once he does not need any more the American Jewish vote and money, and he does not have to play games to be reelected any more? I don’t think so. And any sane Jew should not believe it under any circumstance.

Obama
Obama, Treasonous by Religion, Decision and Training

If the Israeli government swallows such a clear deception, we shall have given Iran the necessary time not only to advance beyond the point of not return for their malignant nuclear program, but they shall have enough time so as to ensure that an attack on their installations would be practically futile. And that is precisely what Obama and all the anti-Zionists (read anti-Semites) of the world are hoping for. Therefore, if the Netanyahu government goes with it, the Prophecy of Gog uMagog divulged by Yehezkel (Ezekiel) in his chapters 38 and 39 shall become a world-wide devastating reality.

This very well could be the betrayal that would cause much Jewish blood in Israel and that HaShem demands from all of America. But why “all of America”? Because it was the people of America that foolishly elected a man who should NEVER have been its president. Countries get the government that they deserve. So what does that tell of America on account of having Obama as president?

In the same way we shall see what we deserve in Israel, because Netanyahu has to make a decision that could be suicidal if he believes the ruse of Obama and those who, although being Jewish, push his destructive policies.

Israeli Government
Netanyahu and Barack need to consider our Reality

.

The world is living moments of high tension reminiscent of those previous to WWII. What turn will it take? We shall continue observing and commenting about his unsavory reality in the news.

Shalom

Ya’akov
